Alpha lipoic acid is found in various foods such as spinach, broccoli, tomatoes as well as meat and offal. It is a vitamin-like ingredient that is both water and fat soluble. Lipoic acid is produced in the liver and other tissues where it acts as a natural co-factor of enzyme complexes such as the pyruvate hydrogenase complex. Primarily, it helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. Lipoic acid also plays an important role in controlling normal blood sugar levels.

Among other things, it can partially prevent blood sugar from spontaneously reacting with and destroying proteins such as collagen. Collagen is found in the skin, blood vessels, connective tissue, the myelin surrounding nerve cells and other tissues. “Saccharification” of these structures can lead to premature ageing of the tissues, kidney damage, atherosclerosis and loss of vision.

Ageing is an inevitable biological phenomenon that, in addition to “saccharification”, is also associated with a progressive reduction in mitochondrial function. Mitochondrial membrane potential, oxygen consumption and cell wall fluidity decrease, while oxidant production increases. Since alpha lipoic acid is a strong antioxidant, it can also positively support the ageing process in this way.

If the absorption of alpha lipoic acid through the diet is not sufficient or there is an increased need, this nutrient can be supplemented through special food supplements.

One capsule (clear) contains 100 mg or 200 mg alpha lipoic acid.
Other ingredients: rice flour, SiO2, magnesium stearate.

The product is vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, not genetically modified.
Capsule shell vegan.

In normal cases take 1 capsule 2 – 3 times a day during meals with plenty of fluid.
