Vitaxin® products are made from the branch tips and needles of the Pacific yew tree. Using the bark and needles of the Pacific yew as a remedy against numerous health concerns is a centuries-old tradition for the Indian tribes in the northwest portion of the United States and Canada. It was rather by chance that modern Western medicine also became aware of the healing powers of the Pacific yew.

In the early 1960s, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the United States initiated a comprehensive research program to look for new plant-based active ingredients to help in the fight against unhealthy cell growth. Along with numerous other botanists, Kurt Blum walked through the American forests and collected plants and plant parts which were to be later analyzed in the laboratory.

Among the specimens he sent to the laboratory in August 1962 were the berries, needles and bark of a tree he had found in the northwest portion of the United States: the Pacific yew. Two years and numerous plant specimen analyses later, it was determined that the constituents of the Pacific yew possessed a powerful anticarcinogenic effect as had never before been seen in any other plant.

However, the molecular structure of the studied plant parts was so complex that the individual active ingredients could not be isolated or artificially produced. It was only four years later that it became possible to isolate at least one group of anticarcinogenic substances from the bark of the Pacific yew: the taxanes, which were very efficient at protecting against unhealthy cell growth.

Meanwhile, the «king of the wood», as the Pacific yew is respectfully called by the indigenous Americans, has been used in the treatment of many different health concerns. Its efficacy does not appear to be tied to one individual constituent but involves the plant as a whole.

To this day, scientists have only partially succeeded in discovering the secret behind the healing powers of this plant. However, what has been determined is that the special healing power of the Pacific yew cannot be explained simply by the great number of beneficial constituents it contains; rather, it results from the specific combination of health-promoting effects of these constituents. In contrast to artificially produced derivatives, the active ingredients of the Pacific yew in their natural form can be easily processed by the body, avoiding the numerous side effects of synthetic products.

Unlike its relatives in Europe and Asia, the Pacific yew – native to the woods of Montana – does not contain any toxic alkaloids. Therefore, the products obtained from it are extremely well-tolerated by humans and animals alike. Chemical analyses of the needles and bark revealed that in addition to the already mentioned cellular-health promoting taxanes existed a great number of similar health-promoting substances which naturally occur only in the Pacific yew.

But the Pacific «miracle tree» has even more secrets in store: Lignans, which apart from their ability to inhibit unhealthy cell growth also exhibit inflammation-modulating, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties, give as much rise to hope for thousands of patients as the inflammation-modulating and anti-allergic flavonoids.

It is mainly in the northwest portion of the United States and Mexico that the Pacific yew has been used as a healthful dietary supplement. Since its discovery, a multitude of patients have profited from its supportive effect on the immune system. When taken orally, Pacific yew has been reported to exert a beneficial influence in the following instances:

  • infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia and fungal infections
  • degenerative conditions of the joints and cartilage
  • in support of therapy for unhealthy cell growth (only in coordination with the treating doctor)
  • protecting against unhealthy cell growth

Patients being treated for unhealthy cell growth particularly seem to profit from the healing power of the Pacific yew: Up to now, more than 2,000 affected persons have successfully made the Pacific yew teas, capsules and ointments part of their fight against the insidious health condition. The greatest successes were achieved in patients with unhealthy cell growth centered in the inner organs, in the skin, in the blood and in the lymph nodes.

Successful therapists ascribe the efficacy of this natural remedy to its immunostimulating, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and anti-toxic properties.

One capsule (clear) contains 300 mg Taxus brevifolia (Pacific yew twig tip powder).

The product is vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, not genetically modified.
Capsule shell vegan.

The usual dosage in patients with unhealthy cell growth is 6 – 8 capsules of 300 mg per day. The patients are advised to continue taking the yew preparation for one year after the disappearance (below the detection limit) of unhealthy cells.

If Vitaxin® is used preventatively, or in instances of non-malignant health concerns, it is recommended to take 1 capsule per day.
