BASIC FACTS

Microcrystalline hydroxylapatite (MCHC^®) is a particularly effective way of covering the body’s daily requirement of calcium and other minerals. MCHC^® is a food supplement that fulfills the daily calcium requirement of the body in an effective and safe way. As part of a health-conscious diet, Osteochron^® is an ideal means of preventing or counteracting specific diseases of advanced age – particularly osteoporosis – by ensuring adequate calcium supplementation.

Adequate quantities of calcium are especially important in the elderly – and this is true for women as well as men. In addition to aiding in the normal functions of muscles and blood coagulation this mineral is an essential component of bone. With advancing age, the natural balance between bone formation and degeneration is disturbed in many individuals. This eventually leads to greater degeneration of bone substance, reduces bone density, and increases the fragility of bone (osteoporosis). Daily supplementation of calcium, in adequate quantities, is important for people suffering from this disease and is also a part of proper health care.

EFFECTS

The MCHC^® contained in Osteochron^® is a very exceptional substance, namely microcrystalline hydroxylapatite. Hydroxylapatite forms the basis of the hard substance of all vertebrates, including humans. It constitutes about 40% of bone and as much as about 95% of dental enamel. In addition to calcium and phosphate, which are essential substances, it includes all minerals contained in healthy bone substance, in the same balanced ratio. The special microcrystalline form of administration allows optimal absorption of this substance by the body.

As mentioned earlier, in addition to calcium, MCHC^® contains mineral phosphates, magnesium, fluorides, zinc, copper, manganese, silicon, and other trace elements. Besides, isoflavones (an extract of soybean that supports the formation of bone in the organism) and MSM (an organic sulfur compound with anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties) have been added to Osteochron^®. Osteochron^® also contains all vitamins required for healthy bone metabolism in the correct chronobiological form.

INDICATIONS

Treatment of osteoporosis: A number of strategies are available for the treatment of osteoporosis, which may be used with varying degrees of success, such as hormone replacement therapy. Preparations like dehydroepiandrosterone or calcitonin are frequently used for this purpose. It should be noted that there is no single suitable treatment for all patients with osteoporosis. Rather, they often require a combination of various therapies.

These purely medication-based therapies are by no means sufficient for successful management of osteoporosis. In addition to adequate exercise, one of the most important factors is a balanced diet rich in calcium and specific minerals required for bone formation. It is particularly important to be able to absorb adequate quantities of the calcium ingested with food. This is ensured by the additional daily intake of microcrystalline hydroxylapatite (MCHC^®).

It has been shown that, when taken daily, Osteochron^® contributes to the restoration of bone formation and reconstruction of bone structure. Several case reports and studies to this effect have been published in the medical literature. Osteochron^® can be optimally integrated into existing osteoporosis therapies.

The division into a morning and an evening tablet, based on chronobiological principles, ensures optimal supply of nutrients and vitamins to the bone throughout the day.

DOSAGE

In normal cases take 2 tablets AM (yellow) in the morning and 2 tablets PM (blue) in the evening with plenty of fluid.

INSTRUCTIONS

MCHC^® is produced from bovine bone; the manufacturers use exclusively freeze-dried bone free of chemicals, derived from naturally raised cows in the free range. The MCHC^® products are made in Australia and New Zealand. In these countries there has been no single case of the «mad cow disease» (BSE). Furthermore, MCHC^® products are subjected to strict tests to ensure they contain no harmful substances (such as pesticides).

Generally self-medication should be absolutely avoided and a specialist should be consulted before the intake of Osteochron^®.

Persons who take blood-coagulating medications, pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers must consult their doctor before the intake of Osteochron^®.
